The ‘Young Old’ in Democracy: ageism, aging and collective resilience

By 2040 a fifth of the New Zealand population will be over 65. Our aging population will look different to previous generations - it will be larger than ever and more diverse. People over 65 are already more engaged in political movements and in 2040 will be well practised in self -organising. What are the implications for this coming change for democracy, and collective resilience? How do we imagine the future older years we want for ourselves?
