Ghosts of the City: A Walking Tour

Join Photographer Andy Spain and Architect Tina Williams for a walking tour through the streets of Wellington exploring the inspirations and histories of the buildings which feature in the GHOST FORESTS exhibition.

The tour starts at the Old Government Buildings, 55 Lambton Quay, and finishes back at Critical Signals, 113 Taranaki Street.

Accessibility: the tour is on flat public footpaths, with a light incline along the terrace. Tours are limited to approximately 15 people. Booking essential.

Ghost Forests is a photographic and moving image project that explores the ecological histories hidden within New Zealand’s architecture and urban environment. It explores the relationship between buildings like the Wellington’s Old Government Building — one of the world’s largest surviving timber (Kauri) buildings—and the forests that supplied its construction material. The project seeks to reconnect architecture with its environmental origins. The exhibition is open for 2 weeks - see details here .
