Call for Contributions

Critical Signals is an Aotearoa New Zealand programme of practical and visionary responses to an era of collapses.

Launched as a pilot in 2025, it returns in 2026 with an expanded edition and a dedicated European strand, drawing connections between Aotearoa and Europe across shared challenges around energy, democracy, and collective resilience.

We are now welcoming contributions for the 2026 programme, which runs in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand, from 1 August to 31 October 2026.

Contributing

If our project and themes resonate with you, we would be glad to hear from you, whether to offer an existing piece of work or to create something new as part of Critical Signals 2026.

We particularly value evidence-based, original material. Where ideas overlap, we will favour workshops that engage participants in more ways than words alone. We endeavour to respond to all proposals promptly.

Contributing from outside Aotearoa NZ

Our events take place in person in Wellington, and we warmly welcome international contributors. If you are based in Europe or further afield, we can support remote and online participation: talks, workshops, and conversations delivered across time zones, as well as artworks and experiences presented on your behalf. Please tell us in your proposal how you would like to take part, and we will work with you to make it possible.
